About my recipes
The recipes in my collection may be Slovak or American, from the 1930s or from my own childhood. If it is delicious and worth sharing, I will share it here.
The Slovak recipes from my husband’s family present a challenge I have been eager to embrace in my ‘baking therapy’. Other recipes I have gathered from my own mother, grandmothers and great-grandmothers as I catalogue family baking knowledge.
Regardless of their origins, for my family these recipes now represent something wholly and unmistakably ours. Unlike all of the possession that we lost in the Colorado Marshall Fire, these recipes will not disappear—and what’s more, they will be passed on. Join me as I find solace in the careful collecting of family favorites, and I hope that you, too, find your own new kitchen memories along the way.
